Margaret deSilva was a 23rd century Human woman. She was an expert civilian zoologist and served aboard the FOMP Onizuka in the 2280s.

Biography[]

deSilva was born in Italy and raised along the Mediterranean Sea. Her maternal grandmother passed on to her a very limited sense of empathy or telepathy. She attended the University of Bologna and Cousteau Institute, earning a PhD in marine biology. She was an expert in zoology, swimming and diving. She also took professional-level training in botany, ecology, hydrology, computer operations, aquatic vehicle operations, and psychology. She was excellent at fencing, trained to use a speargun, and was also good at playing cards.

In 2286, she was assigned to Project Nursery as chief of life sciences aboard the Federation Ocean Monitoring Platform Onizuka, which observed George, Gracie and baby humpback whale Jessie in the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, after three months of study, she and the team had learned very little, though she had grown attached to the whales and was passionately concerned for their welfare.

When the Onizuka was moored in Pailolo Channel in Hawaii, she slipped out during a staff meeting with a Federal Marshal and government official to check on the whales. She found them unconscious and requiring immediate rescue to prevent drowning. (FASA RPG module: The Hottest Blood of All)
