Maria Alvarez was a female Human inhabitant of Weibak IV in the 24th century.

Biography[]

Alvarez was in charge of the customs and excise office on Weibek IV until the end of the Dominion War, when she became transitional governor. When Ellen Smith visited Weibak IV after the war, she tried to convince Alvarez, who Smith had been on friendly terms with for over a decade, to provide assistance to Calphan space, where many refugees had left Cardassian space and Romulan protectorates for. Smith hoped that the Federation would look favorably on Weibak IV for doing so, as the Federation had ceded the planet to the Cardassian Union in the Federation-Cardassian Treaty of 2370 and left them at the mercy of the Cardassians and later the Jem'Hadar.
