Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Marjorie Smith was a female Human from the planet Rampart in the 24th century.

History[]

She was a nurse, a medical professional who worked for the Cephalic Security police on Rampart at CephCom. Her job was to brainwash and mind-wipe those convicted of capital crimes, where the punishment was the death of personality. Their memories were extracted by Cephalic Security equipment, filtered to eliminate and references to fiction or imagination, and saved to disk. The filtered memories were then available to be implanted into another person. Smith had done the job thousands of times, and lived a comfortable but bland life without imagination or dreams.

At some point, Smith’s own filtered memories were saved to disk and implanted into a Rampartian Dissenter named Amoret. Amoret’s previous life of fairy tales and fiction was incompatible with Smith’s, and Amoret’s own personality was able to reassert itself. (TNG novel: Gulliver's Fugitives)
