Quadrant Mark 1

Quadrant Mark 1 was a region of space within Federation territory. It was the source of telltale radiation related to the Big Bang.

History[]

In the 2260s, scientists speculated that quadrant Mark 1 once contained the singularity which exploded to create the universe. The USS Enterprise was dispatched to investigate. At one point, space simply seemed to run out as the vessel slipped into a subspace parallel universe. Spock theorized that they might be within the primordial atom, a region of matter which existed outside of normal spacetime. Within the region, some of the laws of nature acted differently and thoughts seemed to have a power all their own. The Enterprise crew discovered within a stasis chamber the James T. Kirk not from their universe, but from the universe which existed before it, as well as a duplicate USS Enterprise decoy which he could control with telepathy. The Enterprise was able to return to the prime universe by amplifying thoughts with a cybernetic helmet worn by Nova. (TOS comic: "The Choice")
