The Marklin-class was a type of Federation destroyer in use in the mid-23rd century, introduced on reference stardate 1/8410.
Service history and specifications[]
The Marklin vessels were a contemporary of the first Constitution series vessels, which were launched only a few years later, around reference stardate 1/88.
As a class the Marklin's did not meet with high expectations, so only a limited number were built. However, in the hands of a talented captain—such as the USS Xenophon under the command of Garth of Izar—these vessels could be very effective.
With only comparably few years of service life, after being introduced on reference stardate 1/8410, this class was retired at some point after the end of the Four Years War, shortly after stardate 1/9806. (FASA RPG module: The Four Years War)
- The Marklin and Constitution class were launched only a few years apart, within the same decade, indicating the stardates given for these events correspond to the early 2240s, which is when the Enterprise was launched, according to the timeline established by canon. The end of Marklin-class service a short space of years later would then seem to indicate a retirement date of the late 2250s, using the current standard chronology.
Known vessels[]
- There is probably a USS Marklin that would be the first vessel of this series, but such a ship has not been referenced in Star Trek publications to date.
