Marris was a binary star with an associated system, located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

History and specifics[]

Marris was composed of a primary G class yellow star and a secondary orange dwarf. It was located between remote Omicron Theta and the more populated Psi Nu Alpha. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "Wild Card")

In the 2270s, it was not far from the edge of explored space and more than two weeks' travel from the nearest starbase, Starbase 189. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "Wild Card", ST - Myriad Universes - Shattered Light novella: The Tears of Eridanus, TLE novel: One Constant Star)

The Marris system's orbit was the location of a number of worlds, including third planet Marris III and fifth planet Marris V. (ST - The Lost Era novel: Serpents Among the Ruins, TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "Wild Card")

A Federation manufacturing outpost in the system was visited by the starship USS Enterprise in 2277. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "Wild Card")

Later in the 2270s, Hikaru Sulu's wife Susan Ling brought her daughter Demora Sulu along to a six week survey in the system. In an alternate timeline, she went alone, but in both cases she developed Sakuro's disease while in the system. (ST - Myriad Universes - Shattered Light novella: The Tears of Eridanus, TOS novel: The Captain's Daughter, TLE novel: One Constant Star)
