Marshak was a 32nd century Federation citizen, a female Human in Starfleet service in the 3180s decade. Commander Marshak was the senior ranking officer of the Federation space station Starbase 906, and oversaw a project to utilize transwarp tunnels as an alternative to warp drive.

Biography[]

Starbase 906 operated without wider support since the Burn disrupted the Federation and interstellar communications in the year 3069[1]. The station personnel's descendants continued to operate as a Starfleet crew.

Marshak had become Starbase 906's commanding officer by the 3180s decade. In her time, the starbase had successfully repelled pirate attacks but the defensive and offensive systems were failing.

In 3186, Remington led the White Palm cartel in an concerted attack on Starbase 906. Marshak held a meeting with her senior officers to organize defense. By the end of the day, any Federation presence had been removed from what Remington now called Starbase Vanguard. The White Palm began using the transwarp tunnels to their advantage.

In 3188, Commander Michael Burnham of Starfleet learned of "Starbase Vanguard's" history and helped depose Remington, reverting the station's name to Starbase 906. (DSC novel: Wonderlands)
