Martina Cukovich was a 24th century Human woman, a career officer in the Federation's Starfleet.

Biography[]

Cukovich's specialty in the 2370s decade was as a starship commanding officer, and by the year 2372, she was a ship's captain, commanding officer of the USS Litvyak. In that year, she took part in the hostilities between the Federation and the Klingon Empire following Chancellor Gowron's renunciation of the Khitomer Accords, and had numerous interactions with Lieutenant Commander Worf, strategic operations officer on Deep Space 9. She continued as captain of the Litvyak during the Dominion War.

By 2381 (in the First Splinter timeline), she was given command of the USS Nansen. During the Borg Invasion of 2381, she fought the Borg at Beta Rigel, shortly before their assault was ended.

Following the invasion, Cukovich was ordered by Admiral Leonard James Akaar to travel to Pacifica, and to relieve Jean-Luc Picard of command of the USS Enterprise-E, after he had allegedly kidnapped Governor George Barrile of Alpha Centauri. Once she'd done so, however, Cukovich offered her assistance in the Enterprise's aid efforts on Pacifica.

Despite her rank and standing, Cukovich was critical of Starfleet's admiralty and their slow response to crisis. In particular, she cited the incomplete recovery of Betazed following the end of the Dominion War, and she voiced concern that a similar response to the post-Borg crisis could have catastrophic effects.
