Massachi was a Human man. He was a Starfleet officer assigned to the engineering department of the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.
History
In 2269, exposure to spiroid epsilon radiation while orbiting Terratin shrank Massachi along with the rest of the Enterprise personnel. After the crew had been reduced to about three inches tall, Captain James T. Kirk requested to beam down to Terrain. Engineers including Montgomery Scott and Frank Gabler rigged a pulley using several thin strands of wire, leading from the transporter console to the floor of the transporter room. When Scott gave the word, Massachi, Nikkatsu and Ross Johnson heaved as hard as they could, and were successful at beaming Kirk down. (TAS episode & Log Four novelization: The Terratin Incident)
