Maui was an island, one of the Hawaiian Islands situated in the Pacific Ocean on the planet Earth.

History and specifics[]

Notable locations on Maui included Kahului Harbor, Nakalele Point, and the mountain of Pu'u Kukui. Settlements on the north side of the island included Kahakuloa, Kahului, Spreckelsville, and Wailuku. Pailolo Channel bordered it to the west.

In 2273, David Fein described V'Ger as being the size of Maui. (TOS novel: Ex Machina)

In 2286, humpback whales George, Gracie, and their newborn calf Jessie foraged for fish in the channel near Maui for a few days. Project Nursery's FOMP Onizuka was anchored for observation 15 kilometers away. (FASA RPG - Stardate Magazine module: The Hottest Blood of All)

In the 24th century, a Rampartian named himself Maui after the island's namesake, a Polynesian mythological hero. (TNG novel: Gulliver's Fugitives)

Hikaru Sulu was born in Wailuku, Maui, according to TOS video game: The Kobayashi Alternative. The game was released prior to his canon birthplace being established as Los Angeles in TOS movie: The Voyage Home.
