Alsuran sector 2374

Map of the region between the Alsuran Empire and Kyana in 2374.

The Mawasi were a sapient culture, a spacefaring species based in the Alsuran sector of the galaxy's Delta Quadrant.

History and specifics[]

The Mawasi star system was located in the space between the Alsuran Empire and the Zahl Regnancy[1]. (ST reference: Star Charts)

The neighborhood of the Krenim Imperium was considered disputed territory in the 2370s decade. (VOY episode: "Year of Hell, Part II")

In the year 2374, the Federation starship USS Voyager passed the Mawasi system in 5 lightyears distance. (ST reference: Star Charts)

In 2377, a Mawasi cruiser attended the first Antarian Trans-stellar Rally as a spectator ship. (VOY episode: "Drive")

The resurgent Vaadwaur Supremacy began attacking other Delta Quadrant nations within their sector block in the year 2409. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "The Kobali Front")

At the behest of their Iconian masters, who were unable to time travel due to their biology,[2] the Vaadwaur targeted the B'Omar Sovereignty and Krenim Imperium first. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Time in a Bottle")

The Khitomer Alliance and its Delta Alliance subsidiary became involved with the Vaadwaur conflict in 2410. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "The Kobali Front")

The Alliance recovered a hidden Krenim colony in the Kyana system and helped the Krenim survivors maintain their civilization in exchange for time travel technology. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Time in a Bottle")

The Krenim survivors and their longstanding[3] Zahl allies formed a new alliance of their own, the Krenim Coalition, which the well-travelled[1] Nihydron and the Mawasi joined.

The Krenim Coalition shared technology and Krenim personnel with the Khitomer Alliance during the Iconian War. However, Mawasi starships were not part of that exchange. (STO website: Iconian War: Year of Hell Lock Box Stats)

In the early 2380s, the Federation's ambassador to the Delta Quadrant, Neelix, kept the Talaxian asteroid colony New Talax hospitable to visitors, gaining information about the quadrant and sharing it with Starfleet. This intelligence included the region inhabited by the Mawasi, which was integrated into the databases of the Project Full Circle fleet.

In July 2382, Full Circle fleet commander Vice-Admiral Kathryn Janeway discussed the region and its inhabitants, including the Mawasi, with the fleet's captain's. In the subsequent mission to the Alsuran sector, the fleet recovered buoy's from an alternate version of USS Voyager. The last entry referenced a coalition with the Mawasi and Nihydron against the Krenim. (VOY novel: A Pocket Full of Lies)

Alternate timelines[]

In a series of alternate timelines created by the Krenim scientist Annorax and his Krenim temporal weapon ship KIS Kyana Prime[4], people and civilizations surrounding Krenim space were erased from history. The Mawasi survived this process until 2374. In that year, USS Voyager built a coalition against Annorax at stardate 51682.2[1]. A Mawasi cruiser was part of the fleet attacking the Kyana Prime. After receiving weapons fire, the cruiser veered out of control and crashed on Voyager, scraping across its saucer section before drifting off. Voyager, with their Krenim ally Obrist, managed to cripple the Kyana Prime, and the temporal weapon ship erased itself, undoing all of Annorax's changes since the 22nd century. (VOY episode: "Year of Hell, Part II")

In a parallel timeline known to the prime universe Krenim, Sormana was pacified at some point before the 2380s. The population their knew little of the Krenim, who controlled a single star system following a long history of conflict with the Mawasi and the Nihydron. (VOY novel: A Pocket Full of Lies)

Technology[]

Mawasicruiser

A Mawasi cruiser.

By the 2370s, the Mawasi government utilized Mawasi cruisers armed energy weapons. (VOY episode: "Year of Hell, Part II")

In the 2410s, ships of the Krenim Coalition were armed with Coalition disruptor beam arrays and cannons, and chroniton torpedo launchers. These disruptors fired continuous blue beams. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
