McMillan was a human male who served on the SS Valiant as chief engineer under Captain Carlos Tarasco. In 2069, he and the rest of the crew abandoned ship in escape pods and made their way to a class M world, developing telepathic and telekinetic abilities along the way. (TNG novel: The Valiant)
