Practitioners of medicine are physicians, and hold titles such as healer, doctor and surgeon; with their assistants including roles as nurse, orderly, technician and medic.

In the customizable disk game Star Trek: Red Alert!, several disks are associated with the medical department. Activating this disk allowed the use of skills or a special ability.
