Earth.

The Mediterranean Sea is a body of water of the Atlantic Ocean on the planet Earth. The Mediterranean was enclosed by land, the continents of Europe to the north, Africa to the south, and Asia to the east.

History and specifics[]

In the mid-21st century, the Mediterranean Alliance constructed a massive hydroelectric dam across the Straits of GibraltarWP which separated the Atlantic Ocean from the Med, and lowered the depth of the Med by 60 meters. As well as generating electricity to supply Europe and northern Africa, new fertile farm-land had been freed up. (TOS novelization: The Motion Picture)
