Mehran Egdor was a Rigelian Jelna male who served as a Starfleet officer for 17 years until he was killed in action while serving as first officer of the USS Kongo.

Service history

Commander Egdor joined Starfleet in the mid-2240s. By the year 2261, he held the rank of Lieutenant commander and was assigned as First Officer of the Hermes-class scout ship USS Sacagawea under Captain James T. Kirk. Although Lt. Cmdr. Egdor didn't begrudge his captain's success as the youngest officer to ever be appointed a starship captain, he did feel overlooked by his largely human superiors and believed that opportunities for advancement and command came much easier to humans than other species.

After the Sacagawea was damaged in a confrontation with the heretofore-unknown species, the Agni, in 2262, Captain Kirk recommended Lt. Cmdr. Egdor for promotion, and while he didn't get the starship command he and Kirk were hoping for, he was promoted to Commander and assigned as First Officer of the Constitution-class starship USS Kongo under Captain Nensi Chandra.

After 16 months as the Kongo's First Officer, Cmdr. Egdor led the ship into battle against the Agni in 2263 when they attacked the Bardeeza system while Captain Chandra remained on the planet dealing with the politics and bureaucracy. Despite the assistance of the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, the Agni were able to cripple the Kongo and destroy the bridge, resulting in Cmdr. Egdor's death.
