Dr. Mei Chu was a 23rd century Human woman from Earth, a Chinese scientist from the Federation's Xenological Research Institute.

Biography[]

By the 2260s, she'd earned her doctorate. She was elderly and short with black hair.

In the year 2268, she, Nomias Gzin, and Helen Gordon traveled to Midgwis aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise to join three other scientists who studied the foraging humanoid Midgwin. Chu treated Gordon in a motherly fashion, and looked forward to spending her first night on the planet.

Not long after the starship departed, a plague erupted in the nearly Walpuk Warren. Not only did the natives' shared consciousness fail to prevent deaths, but some of the sick Midgwin were being eaten by hostile licats. Chu and her teammates accompanied patriarch Kailin Arxoras to the warren to provide whatever aid they could. (TOS novel: Ghost-Walker)
