"Memorium" is the backup story in the fifth issue of John Byrne's Star Trek: New Visions comic series. It was published on March 11 2015. The story is Byrne's tribute to Arlene MartellMA, the actor who portrayed T'Pring, who passed away in 2014.
Description[]
- John Byrne continues his new Star Trek photoplay adventures with "A Scent of Ghosts" and "Memorium." Past and Present collide, as the Enterprise takes aboard a special figure from Spock's past, only to find themselves haunted by a mystery from years before. Plus, a sad farewell.
Summary[]
While on Vulcan during his kolinahr training in the early 2270s, Spock becomes distracted by a telepathic call, and quests for its source for three days in The Forge until he comes upon a cavern. Within, Spock approaches a memorial to T'Pring, and a vision of her appears. They had been joined as children — while Spock had been released from her through the kal-if-fee, T'Pring realized her connection to him remained. The vision of T'Pring asks him to free her, and he officially declares her katra to be released. He bids her a safe journey, and she fades away.
