|This page describes one of Memory Beta's policies and guidelines|
Please read through the policy below to familiarize yourself with our common practices and rules. If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please post them on the talk page.
As stated in our policy Memory Beta:Style, plagiarism is forbidden.
Users should not copy bodies of text from other books or websites that are protected under US or international copyright law. This means user cannot copy an entire paragraph, or page, from a commercial publication, such as the Star Trek Encyclopedia, and cannot copy an entire section from a commercial website, such as http://StarTrek.com.
Additionally, users should not copy open-source bodies of text that have licenses which conflict with Memory Beta's license. This means that some other wiki sources, such as http://Memory-Alpha.org, are not allowable to be used as sources of copied text.
Any user found to be copying will be reminded of this policy, which will also be counted as a warning. Should the user persist in committing plagiarism they will subject to a short term ban, becoming a permanent ban if they continue to plagiarise after being allowed to use the site again.
