Merak III was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant, the third planet in orbit of the Merak star system, in or near the 24th century borders of Federation space.

The Jerakans were from Merak III, but many members of the species preferred to live in space aboard starships. (DS9 comic: "Shanghaied")
