The Mesh Weaver class[1], also known as Meshweaver-class[2], was a 22nd century[3] Tholian[1] starship type, a frigate[1] and escort[2] class in Tholian Assembly service by the 2150s[3] decade. (STO - New Romulus mission: "Azure Nebula Rescue", STO - Yesterday's War mission: "Vorgon Conclusions")
History and specifics[]
Technical specifications[]
A frigate of this class was 123 meters long. (STO video game: Under Siege promo image)
Its standard crew complement was 250. The escort version in use by the Khitomer Alliance, known as the Meshweaver, was armed with tetryon beam arrays, quantum torpedo launchers and an experimental hyperexcited ion stream projector. (STO website: New Dawn: Mirror Lockbox Stats)
Conversely, the frigate operated by the Tholian Assembly was equipped with a pair of tetryon beam arrays and one thermionic torpedo launcher. Additional offensive systems included the Tholian tetryon grid,[1] Tholian web generator, Tholian web cannon and the Tholian radiation field[4] (STO - New Romulus mission: "Azure Nebula Rescue", STO website: New Dawn: Mirror Lockbox Stats)
Like any spacecraft operated by the military of the Khitomer Alliance, ships of this class had access to the Federation transwarp network, the Iconian gateway network, and could attain quantum slipstream and transwarp velocities. (STO - New Dawn mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
Service history[]
The Mesh Weaver-class frigate had entered service by the early 2150s. In the year 2152, ships of this class battled Suliban Veil-class cell ships for control over Kal Dano's timeship, held by the United Earth vessel Enterprise NX-01. After the Humans activated a temporal distress beacon, the timeship was recovered by the USS Pastak from the 29th century.
The Mesh Weavers then turned their attention to a small flotilla of uptime Vorgon and Khitomer Alliance vessels at NGC 162. The Tholian commander declared their presence anomalous and intended to purge them. The Vorgon ship VSV Arbarel escaped while its escort vessels were destroyed. The Alliance vessel eliminated the remaining Tholian and Vorgon frigates before pursuing the Arbarel. (STO - Yesterday's War mission: "Vorgon Conclusions")
In the 23rd century, ships of this class were part of a Tholian colonial fleet heading into unsurveyed territory. A Tholian queen commanded the Tholian flagship when Na'kuhl from the 29th century attacked the fleet in 2268. The Na'kuhl extremists destroyed all vessels and crippled the flagship, boarding it to eliminate its crew and the hatchlings. The Federation starship USS Defiant and a vessel sent by Temporal Agent Timot Danlen from 2270 arrived to render aid. They repelled the Na'kuhl but the Defiant became trapped in interphase and the queen abandoned the colonization mission. (STO - Agents of Yesterday mission: "Tangled Webs")
In 2409, ships of this class were part of the Tholian fleets capturing Romulan warbirds in the Azure Nebula. The Romulan Republic and their allies battled the hostile forces to recover as many warbirds as possible from the asteroid bases. (STO - New Romulus mission: "Azure Nebula Rescue")
In 2410, the Lobi Crystal Consortium acquired ships of the Mesh Weaver-, Tarantula- and mirror universe Paradox-classes and offered them to the Khitomer Alliance. The Alliance deployed Meshweavers, now rated as tier 5 escorts. (STO website: New Dawn: Mirror Incursion Lockbox)
Alternate timelines[]
In an alternate timeline where Danlen did not curb the Na'kuhl interference, the loss of the Tholian colonial fleet let to a critical deterioration of Federation-Assembly relations in 2270. (STO - Agents of Yesterday mission: "Tangled Webs")
In an alternate timeline where the USS Enterprise-C travelled forward in time from 2344 to 2366[7], Tasha Yar warned of Tholian Meshweavers when the Enterprise-C, now trapped at a Tholian base in 2409, attempted to escape into the Azure Nebula. The Enterprise outgunned its Tholian captors, and was rescued from an incoming Tarantula-class dreadnought by the USS Pastak. (STO - Yesterday's War mission: "Temporal Ambassador")
