Mexico was a traditional Nation-state of the planet Earth. Located on the contient of North America, it primarily comprises the land south of the Rio Grande River and north of the isthmus of Central America. Settled by American aboriginals including the Maya and Aztec, it was conquered by Spain in the 16th century. The Mexican people rebelled and gained independence in 1821.
Earth Starfleet officer Malcolm Reed commented that he once traveled to a spa in Mexico and it was "the most relaxing place" to which he had been. After spending time aboard a Klingon vessel, Reed indicated that it did not compare to time in Enterprise's decontamination chamber. (ENT episode: "Sleeping Dogs")
Starfleet Admiral Alynna Nechayev maintained a beach front condominium in Mexico as a safe house. After Section 31 was exposed to the public a warrant was issued for her arrest. Giving Federation Security Agency officers who went to her upstate New York home to arrest her the slip, Nechayev beamed to her Mexico condo. She was taken in to custody a short time later on the beach outside the condo. (TNG novel: Available Light)
