- This character is a member of the Paris family.
Michael Thomas "Iron Mike" Paris was a male Human Starfleet officer serving in the late 23rd and early 24th century. A thin man with a fair complexion, the nickname "Iron Mike" was thought to be somewhat ironic. He was a member of the Paris family, the son of Daniel Paris and brother of Patricia Paris. Mike married Victoria Santos and fathered two sons: Cole and Owen.
Paris was born in May of 2271 in the Hume Township on Altair IV. He would eventually go on to enroll in Starfleet Academy, and graduated with honors in 2292. He was friends with Demora Sulu at the Academy. (ST novel: Excelsior: Forged in Fire)
His first posting was aboard the USS Colombia, aboard which he served as the ship's mathematician. He later transferred to the command divison of Starfleet and served on both the USS Excelsior and USS Mjolnir before transferring to the USS Agamemnon as second officer, upon which he was promoted to Commander and first officer. The official records state that Paris held this position until 2311 when the Agamemnon was destroyed during the rogue Romulan attack on the Foxtrot Sector known as the Tomed Incident. In truth however, Paris was killed during a Starfleet Special Operations mission to Devron II, having given his life to save former academy classmate Demora Sulu. (TLE novel: Serpents Among the Ruins; TLE short story: "Iron and Sacrifice")
A decorated officer, Paris earned the silver palm with cluster, Grankite Order of Tactics, Class of Excellence, and the Archer Ribbon for Conspicuous Bravery. (TLE novel: Serpents Among the Ruins)
- The Star Trek comic book has Tom Paris state that his grandfather used to use the phrase, "Here goes nothing!" It is unclear if this was a reference to Michael Thomas Paris or to Julia Paris's father.
