History and specifics[]

In 2372, a group of rogue Jem'Hadar attacked Deep Space 9 and stole several microfusion initiators, along with other technology such as photonic amplifiers and EPS power stabilizers, to be used to bring an Iconian gateway in the Gamma Quadrant online. (DS9 episode: "To the Death")

Miles O'Brien determined that Jem'Hadar warships did not use microfusion initiators when aboard such a vessel on Torga IV in 2373. (DS9 episode: "The Ship")

In 2376, Geordi La Forge used microfusion initiators and an EPS power stabilizer to open an Iconian gateway that was aboard a Petraw ship. (TNG - Gateways novel: Doors Into Chaos)
