The Middle East is a region on the planet Earth.
History and specifics[]
From the Human reckoning of what is referred to as the "Old World", or the Western world, centered around the rise of civilizations of the Atlantic Ocean, the Middle East region was referred to as such, differentiating it from the Far East of Asia.
It was noted that Khan Noonien Singh rose to power in India in the 1990s decade and cemented a power base that spanned from Asia to the Middle East. (TOS episode: "Space Seed")
Starfleet captains Gilaad Ben Zoma and Mahmud al-Khaled are from the middle east. [citation needed]
