Miguel Darby (also known as Henreid) was a Starfleet commander in the 23rd century. He served as Captain Styles's executive officer on the USS Excelsior from 2284 until late 2289. Darby was very involved with the transwarp project. (TOS movie: Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and TOS novel: Excelsior: Forged in Fire)

In 2289 Darby and Styles both decided to retire from Starfleet, at about the same time as Starfleet decided to terminate the last of the transwarp project. Lt. Commander Cutler felt that the timing of their retirements would be seen as leaving under a cloud, so she pressed both of them to reverse their decisions. While Cutler was able to convince Captain Styles to remain, Commander Darby decided to retire. While Styles wanted to promote Cutler to be Darby's replacement, Starfleet instead decided to replace Darby with Hikaru Sulu. (TOS novel: Excelsior: Forged in Fire)
