Mila Garak was a Cardassian woman and the mother of Elim Garak.

Biography[]

For much of her life she played the role of Tolan Garak's wife, but was in fact his sister; Elim Garak's actual father being her employer Enabran Tain. She, Tolan and Elim Garak lived in Tain's home in Cardassia City where she worked as a housekeeper. She also worked under Tain in the Obsidian Order, working in the offices on Cardassia. (DS9 novel: A Stitch in Time)

Mila retired with Enabran Tain to the Arawak Colony in the mountainous Rogarin Province of Cardassia, where they lived together until 2371 when Tain left to take part in a joint Obsidian Order/Tal Shiar effort to wipe out the Founders homeworld in the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9 episodes: "Improbable Cause", "The Die is Cast")

Mila returned to Cardassia City and in 2375 harboured the remnants of the Cardassian Liberation Front, including Elim, in the basement of Tains house. Unfortunately the fugitives were tracked down and Mila was killed by Jem'Hadar troops shortly before the end of the Dominion War. (DS9 episodes: "The Dogs of War", "What You Leave Behind")

After the war Elim returned to live in an outbuilding of Tain's home, using the rubble of the house to construct a memorial to Mila (buried below), Tolan, Tain and the countless other Cardassians killed at the hand of the Dominion. (DS9 novel: A Stitch in Time)
