Mimas

Mimas is a moon of the planet Saturn, located in Federation space in the Sol star system in sector 001 of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant.

History and specifics[]

Mimas is a class C planetoid, and is the moon which orbits closest to Saturn. Its surface is pitted with craters and covered with ice. It is also known as Sol VIA. (Last Unicorn RPG modules: Starfleet Academy Handbook, Starfleet Academy)

Mimas Station was erected on Mimas, as its orbital position was within transporter range of the Starfleet Academy Flight Range and could serve as a base for emergency evacuation transporter stations. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Starfleet Academy Handbook)

In 2368, four Nova Squadron cadets beamed to Mimas after unsuccessfully attempting the Kolvoord Starburst maneuver at the flight range. Five Academy trainer craft collided, resulting in one fatality.
