Mimas Station, also known as the Mimas Emergency Facility and emergency evac station, is a Starfleet Academy outpost established on Saturn's moon Mimas.

History and Specifics[]

Mimas Station was constructed by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers for use as an emergency evacuation center for Academy trainer craft in trouble at the Starfleet Academy Flight Range. The flight range was within transporter range of the station.

The facility was mainly underground with a tiny portion at surface level. It was manned by a small staff, primarily personnel from the Academy's infirmary and Starfleet Academy Medical School who conducted research when not engaged in rescue operations. The staff also aided Saturn Station 1 personnel when needed. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Starfleet Academy Handbook)

In 2368, when five Nova Squadron Academy trainer craft at the flight range collided while attempting to perform the Kolvoord Starburst maneuver, four of the pilots were able to trigger escape transporters and beam to the evac station. (TNG episode: "The First Duty", Star Trek: The Magazine vol. 3, Issue 12: "The Kolvoord Starburst")
