Background[]

In Star Trek: Conquest, the mining colony space station was required to obtain resources, in denominations of millions of credits. Players could place one per star system, unless there was a research facility in the orbital slot advancing technology trees and constructing special weapons. Each of these space stations could be fortified with up to 4 defense turrets. One Federation mining station, the Sol system mining colony generated at the beginning of gameplay, was a "hero" variation that could build resources as well as advance research. However, if that station was destroyed in gameplay, the new build replacing it would not have the special capability.
