The Mislenite freighter[1] was a 24th century Mislenite[1] starship class, a freighter[1] and colony ship[4]/transport[2] service in the 2370s[1] and 2410s[2] decades. (VOY episode: "The Swarm", STO - Delta Quadrant missions: "Ocampan Freighter Patrol", "Reunion")

Specifications[]

The Mislenite freighter appeared as an unadorned and practical vessel, designed to transport goods across interstellar distances. The superstructure was modular, allowing freighter crews to reconfigure the hull as needed. (STO - Friends in Unlikely Places mission: "Ocampan Freighter Patrol")

The basic configuration consisted of a flat half-saucer section at the bow, connected to a pair of round engine cones at the rear through a narrow spine, with two rows of cargo pods held on either side of the spine. A small triangular tower rose above the hull where the central corridor connected with the aft drive section. (VOY episode: "The Swarm")

Ships of this class were protected by deflector shields but presented little resistance to coordinated attacks. (STO - Friends in Unlikely Places mission: "Ocampan Freighter Patrol")

Service history[]

Ocampan colony transport

Ocampan colony transport.

This ship class operated from planet Mislen by the 2370s decade.

In the year 2373, a Mislenite freighter was crippled and left adrift by a Swarm species that controlled its space rigorously. The Federation starship USS Voyager found the freighter and recovered the last surviving Mislenite crew member, Pilot Chardis. He warned Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Swarm before he succumbed to his injuries. (VOY episode: "The Swarm")

Ocampan transport

Another Ocampan colony ship.

By the early 25th century, the Ocampa had acquired ships of this class. They employed them as colony transports to leave Ocampa V for other worlds. Because their defenses were weak, the Ocampa hired mercenaries to escort them.

In the year 2410, an alliance of Alpha Quadrant nations established a permanent presence in the Delta Quadrant. They defended the Ocampan colony transports when their escorts where overwhelmed during an ambush near the Jenolan Dyson Sphere in the Alsuran sector. (STO - Friends in Unlikely Places mission: "Ocampan Freighter Patrol")

Talaxian colony ships

Talaxian ships in 2410.

The Alliance reconnected with Neelix, Starfleet's ambassador to the Delta Quadrant]], in the Entaba system. One star Admiral Tuvok supported an escort of the Talaxian asteroid base personnel to New Talax. Neelix led a fleet of Drexia-class freighters and Mislenite-style colony ships to settle the unclaimed planet. When the fleet arrived at New Talax, they found it's orbit a dumping ground for theta radiation by the Malon. The Alliance repelled the Malon and dispersed the radiation, allowing the Talaxian ships to reach New Talax safely. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Reunion")

Following the destruction of the Krenim Imperium at the hands of the Vaadwaur Supremacy, the Zahl Regnancy maintained a Krenim colony in the Zahlna system. The space around the colony became a battleground between the Vaadwaur and the Voth. The Krenim attempted to flee Zahlna aboard their Mislenite freighters but the Krenim warship escorts were not powerful enough to defend the refugees. Alliance High Command travelled to Zahlna II and interceded on the refugee's behalf. The Vaadwaur and Voth were fought back by the Alliance long enough to enable the Krenim to escape. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Blockade Runner")

The Kinbar system was a trade hub. Convoys by various parties employed Mislenite freighters in different configurations as part of their convoys to ferry goods between traders in the 2410s decade. Hirogen, Malon and Vaadwaur preyed on them, requiring the Voth and their partners to cooperate with the Delta Alliance for added protection. (STO - Taking Care of Enemies mission: "Tempting Targets")
