Mobians are a humanoid species native to the planet Mobita.

Background

Mobian civilization was advanced to a level where they flew airplanes, though they were not space-faring. Off-worlders such as Kafrians were known to them, but Starfleet's non-interference directive applies to Mobians.

History

In the mid-23rd century, Mobians first explored the vast Togo jungle region on Mobia, discovering the Togota tribe. Several regions of the planet remained unexplored.

By 2264, Togota were trading with the Mobians, but the tribe was seen as naive. Mobians began exploiting and then murdering Togota, burning their villages, and kidnapping them for slave labor. This hardened the Togota and made them willing to accept weapons when offered discretely by Klingons in 2265. Togota began attacking Mobians with directed energy rifles.

In 2266, when Starfleet found evidence linking the Klingons to Mobita, a clandestine meeting was arranged between James T. Kirk and prime minister Aado, who helped him expose Klingon involvement. Peace was offered to the Tagota and accepted, ending hostilities between the two species. (TOS comic: "One of Our Captains Is Missing!")
