Montmorency was a historian in the 24th century. In the late 2350s or early 2360s, Montmorency published a monograph titled Benedict Arnold, Patriot, which advanced the theory that Benedict Arnold, the infamous American traitor during the American Revolution, was in fact a double agent who infiltrated the British military to undermine their efforts to put down the rebellion in their North American colonies. By 2367, Montmorency's conclusions were considered the final word on Arnold. (TNG comic: "The Lesson")
