The Moonbeam Club was a restaurant at Starbase 24 in the 2260s.

History and specifics[]

The establishment featured a piano and dance floor. Observation ports provided a view of starship docking berths.

In 2261, James T. Kirk and Janet Miller frequented the Moonbeam Club often, as Kirk served with a Federation Border Patrol task force based at the starbase. Task force CO Robert Wesley was known to play jazz on the piano. (TOS novel: The Captain's Oath)

Kirk and Miller ended their engagement at the club, agreeing that neither would sacrifice their work for the other. They kept a photographic souvenir of the evening. (TOS comic: "Captain James T. Kirk: Psycho-File")

She had broken off the relationship to accept a position at the Aldebaran colony as protégée to Theodore Wallace, and broke the news after she and Kirk danced at the club.

In 2262, Captain Vishakha Gupta of the USS Beowulf longed for a visit to the club upon hearing of a border incursion near Adelphous IV by unidentified vessels.

Later, a wake was held at the club for 87 who died during a battle that crippled Kirk's ship, the Hermes-class USS Sacagawea. Wesley consoled Kirk there about the loss of his vessel. (TOS novel: The Captain's Oath)
