A mouse is a common term for rodent species of small animals found throughout the galaxy, including the planet Earth.

The mouse had a role as prey in many ecosystems, leading to humanoid observations of their behavior in idiom, with language defining this as "cat and mouse". Guinan's powers of unclear premonition often felt like a "cat-and-mouse" game to her; she had the thought as they pushed her to unexpectedly meet Montgomery Scott in a bar in Glasgow, Scotland.
