Muton was a class M planet in the Ortadd galaxy within the Alpha or Beta Quadrant.

Background[]

Muton was located in a star system with one yellow G class star that was adjacent to the Salgorax-Neptor system.

It was the homeworld of the humanoid Muton natives. Its sky was colored blue and its climate supported dense jungle plants.

History[]

In the 2260s, Muton was invaded and occupied by warlike bipedal frogmen from the Salgorax-Neptor system.

In 2265, James T. Kirk and Spock materialized on Muton after a transporter malfunction redirected their beam from Santar. They were about to be killed by a frogman sentry, but were saved by a band of Muton native rebels. Spock helped repair their crashed spacecraft, and with it the rebels were able to drive the frogmen out of Muton's capital city. Rebel leader Dalbar gave one of the transport ships in the city to Kirk and Spock so they could return to Santar. (TOS comic: "Slaves of the Frogmen")
