"My Human is Not" is a TNG comic published in the 2018 Waypoint Special from IDW Publishing. The story is told from the point of view of Spot, Data's cat.

Summary[]

Spot observes that Data puzzles other Humans, but she likes him. She enjoys getting petted and being fed. She gets bored when Data reads to her, and dislikes being left alone in their quarters. She naps, dreaming of catching birds.

One day, Data enters, treating her gruffly. He orders the main computer to override engineering while the ship is at warp in an attempt to destroy the ship. He is interrupted by Reginald Barclay, who's arrived for Mahjong night. Data tries to get Barclay to leave verbally, and when that fails, he withdraws a phaser from the desk. Spot is aware that the phaser is harmful. Knowing that Data would never cause harm, she realizes he is not Data. She jumps, bites Lore's hand, and scratches his face. Barclay calls for security. Lore throws Spot brusquely against the bulkhead, and she is knocked out.

Later, after Lore is secured in the brig, Data visits Spot in sickbay. He apologizes for what happened and promises to increase security settings to their quarters. He marvels that she could tell Data and Lore apart, because he thinks the two androids are identical.
