Doctor Myznek was a male humanoid in the 23rd century. He was a scientist and the father of Danzek, who became a prototype Borg Queen due to his medical experimentation.

History[]

In the mid 2210s, Myznek's species became infected by a highly-adaptive plague. In desperation, Mynzek began kidnapping test subjects from as many races as possible to research a cure. The massive Myznek space station was built in orbit of the event horizon of a black hole. Due to gravitational time dilation, it was possible to send spacecraft through wormholes into normal spacetime, run experiments on the test subjects for several hundred years, and then retrieve them, with only days or weeks having elapsed near the singularity.

Mynzek believed his daughter Danzek was key to finding a cure. When she would not volunteer, he forcefully subjected her to guinea pig medical experimentation on a Myznek lab ship for as many as 200 years thanks to time dilation, keeping her alive in a semi-conscious state with feeding tubes.

Father and daughter confrontation

By 2267, when encountered by the crew of the USS Enterprise, Mynzek had spent 50 years trying to save his race and had more than 100 spacecraft at his disposal, some which had aged 3,000 years due from time dilation. McCoy revived Danzek, who infected Pavel Chekov just as the lab ship and Enterprise were grabbed by the tractor beam of a Myznek retrieval ship and dragged through a wormhole to the space station. Danzek then began wrecking her father’s space station with help from humanoids she had herself infected. When she confronted her father, Mynzek said, “You never listened, did you? You knew more than anyone what I was trying to do. Why didn’t you help me when I asked you?” In response, she injected Mynzek with her own antigen, proclaiming herself the savior of her species. As Mynzek lay helpless, the infection rampaging through his body, Danzek fled in an escape pod. The station’s shields collapsed and it began to break apart. Mynzek apparently died as the station was destroyed. (TOS - Star Trek: The Manga - Shinsei Shinsei comic: "Side Effects")
