NC-05 (registry NC-05) was a 22nd century United Earth auxiliary craft, an OTV type K42 shuttlepod in United Earth Starfleet service in the 2150s decade. Unlike red-striped shuttlepods assigned to starships, NC-05 bore blue livery and the assignment patch of Starfleet Command. (ENT episode: "Regeneration")
History and disposition
NC-05 was in service in the mid-22nd century. Early in 2153, the A-6 excavation team of the Earth Sciences Institute investigated debris from a Borg sphere in Earth's Arctic Circle. The scientists inadvertently reawakened the Borg drones and were assimilated. The Borg then assimilated the team's research ship Arctic One and left Earth.
After the A-6 excavation team failed to call in, the ESI asked Starfleet to investigate. Vice Admiral Maxwell Forrest and Commander Marcus Williams of Starfleet Command personally boarded NC-05 and travelled to the base camp in the Arctic Circle. They found the camp abandoned and signs of struggle. Forrest relayed the forensic information to the starship Enterprise NX-01, which intercepted and destroyed the assimilated Arctic One on 01 March. (ENT episode: "Regeneration")
Following a successful conclusion to the Xindi crisis, Enterprise returned from a year-long mission in the Delphic Expanse to Earth in 2154. Having saved the planet from destruction by a Xindi superweapon, a celebration with a large crowd was arranged in the Bay Stadium in San Francisco. NC-05 picked up Enterprise's senior staff from the ship before touching down in a landing area emblazoned with the United Earth Starfleet insignia at the head of the stadium. After the senior staff disembarked and were arrayed in front of the crowd, with NC-05 between them, Captain Jonathan Archer approached the podium and addressed the Humans. (ENT episode: "Home")
