The NCC-1701/5 was a Federation class F shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century. The shuttle was assigned to the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s.
Service history
In the 2260s, renegade exile Zar killed three crewmen in the shuttle bay of the USS Enterprise, then fled the ship aboard NCC-1701/5. He landed the shuttle near his moon base Zettin, where he reactivated a robot army to defend himself from attack. Kirk and Spock pursued him to the base aboard the Galileo (NCC-1701/1), accompanied by NCC-1701/3 and an unspecified shuttle. (TOS comic: "The Void of Storms")
Exploratory teams boarded NCC-1701/5 and NCC-1701/3 to study the planet Grektan. During their travel through the atmosphere, a strange, rapidly-growing fungus began to grow on the hulls of both ships. The fungus enveloped both shuttles, suddenly cutting off engine power. NCC-1701/5 veered wildly and crashed into the side of a mountain, leaving no survivors. (TOS comic: "Creeping Death")
- A successor vessel with that registry, the SW7-class shuttlecraft Copernicus (NCC-1701/5), was in service aboard the Enterprise by the year 2273. (ST reference: Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise, TOS novel: The More Things Change)
