For other uses, see NX.

NX was a material option, an Alpha Quadrant Alliance designation for the visual appearance of a spacecraft's outer hull, i.e. a vessel's "skin". This version of NX was available for select Federation Starfleet starships from 2409 onwards. This material was based on the NX-class escort.

In particular, this material was available for starships classes that saw their heyday in the 2250s decade, and their 25th century counterparts.

A variation of this hull material was NX Refit. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

In 2410, following the return of J'Ula, this material was made available to tier 3 and tier 6 heavy cruiser classes - cruisers with quad nacelle configuration like the Cheyenne and Stargazer-class. (STO - Legacy mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")[1]
