The Na'Qjej class[4], or cleave ship, was a 22nd century[1] Klingon starship type, a ramship[1] class in services to the Great Houses and Defense of the Klingon Empire from the 2180s[1] to the 3060s[2] decades. In the year 2256, a ship of this class took part in the Battle of the Binary Stars.(DSC episode: "Battle at the Binary Stars")

Technical specifications and history[]

The Na'Qjej class was constructed by the House of HuH'gat and launched in the year 2185. General HuH'gat operated five vessels of this class as ramships. The class was first tested against a captured Daedalus-class starship in the Epsilon 16 star system. (Star Trek Adventures module: Discovery (2256-2258) Campaign Guide)

During a cease fire at the Battle of the Binary Stars, the Sarcophagus's commander, T'Kuvma ordered his cleave ship to ram into the USS Europa in order to demonstrate the cloaking device for the High Council.(DSC episode: "Battle at the Binary Stars")

In 2257, a cleave ship was the flagship of Chancellor L'Rell as she coordinated the Empire's efforts to support the USS Discovery and USS Enterprise during the battle against Control. (DSC episode: "Such Sweet Sorrow").

In 2410, the Klingon Defense Force revived the ship class following the return of J'Ula and House Mo'Kai. The class was designated a tier 6 intel battlecruiser. (STO website: Rise of Discovery: The Section 31 Lock Box)

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow: The following content contains spoilers!

In the 31st century, at least one ship of this class was controlled by Ha'shet, daughter of Qo'dah. Shortly after the Burn on stardate 749047.7 in the year 3069, Ha'shet led a Black Path fleet of resurgent Klingon Empire ships in an attack against a Federation space station. (TLS comic: "Issue 1")
