Nal Eiili was an author from Proxima II who was known for writing a series of computer crime mystery literature for teenagers. During her formative years, Piper was addicted to Eiili's short stories.

Biography[]

Using Nal Eiili's stories during her Kobayashi Maru test, Piper utilized a procedure involving the auxiliary computer and a hand communicator, which she learned from the literature. She personally thought the procedure was a radical, almost terroristic move, and because it was fictional it would not work. However, her performance brought her to the attention of Captain James T. Kirk, who requested that her assignment upon graduation with the rank of lieutenant be transferred from the USS Magellanic Clouds to the USS Enterprise. (TOS - Fortunes of War novel: Dreadnought!)
