The Napeans are a species native to the Alpha or Beta Quadrants. They have a large, leaf-shaped forehead ridge and are partially empathic. (TNG episode: "Eye of the Beholder") There is a tiny egg-shaped organ near the base of the brain on all Napeans due to a genetically engineered mutation that provides these empathic abilities.
