Narat was a Cardassian doctor who was assigned to Terok Nor as the station's chief medical officer, under the command of Gul Skrain Dukat in the 2360s.

In early 2366, Narat worked with Bajoran doctor, Kellec Ton, to work on a cure for a variation of the Double Helix virus which was killing both Bajorans and Cardassians on the station and on Bajor. After days of treating the dying workers and soldiers and making little headway in their research, Narat agreed with Ton's assessment that they needed a fresh perspective and assistance of Federation doctor, Katherine Pulaski. After working a deal with Dukat that would allow a team of Federation doctors aboard, Narat worked with Pulaski and her team, and eventually a temporary cure for those who already displayed symptoms of the disease was found.

When Pulaski indicated that the virus could have started on the surface of Bajor, Dukat ordered Narat to prepare a team to go to the surface and find the cure or the culprits responsible. Everybody knew that this was a ploy by Dukat to try and blame the Bajoran Resistance for the disease, but, fortunately, the initial source for the virus was discovered by Kira Nerys, and Narat's team never had a chance to perform their duty on Bajor.
