Narendra III was a class M planet in the Narendra system, located near the Federation-Klingon border. The planet's land mass was divided into twelve continents. Horbin was the name given to the planet when it had been part of the Zalkat Union. (VOY - The Brave and the Bold, Book Two novella: The Third Artifact)
In 2152, Captain Jonathan Archer stood trial on Narendra III for plotting against the Klingon Empire. (ENT episode: "Judgment")
In 2267, Romulan Proconsul Toqel met Grodak at his home on Narendra III in order to discuss the formation of the Klingon-Romulan alliance. (ST novella: The First Peer)
In 2344, Romulans launched a surprise attack on Narendra III, destroying the colony, as well as the USS Enterprise-C, which had responded to the distress call. This honorable sacrifice served to save the then-tenuous Federation-Klingon Alliance. (TNG episode: "Yesterday's Enterprise"; TLE novel: The Art of the Impossible; TOS novel: Vulcan's Heart)
In an alternate timeline, the Enterprise-C disappeared in the midst of this battle, and the deterioration of the Alliance continued until it collapsed. (TNG episode: "Yesterday's Enterprise")
The Narendra III colony was rebuilt between 2344 and 2376, by which point it had dozens of cities, and a population of thousands. (TNG - The Brave and the Bold, Book Two novella: The Final Artifact)
In 2353, the planet was the location of a conference that saw the Klingons and Federation sign the Treaty of Alliance. (Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook)
In 2376, the fourth Malkus Artifact was found on the planet, after having been hidden there 90,000 years before (when the planet had been known as "Horbin"). Its discovery unleashed the consciousness of the ancient dictator Malkus the Mighty, enabling him to control the minds of the colonists. (TNG - The Brave and the Bold, Book Two novella: The Final Artifact)
- The novel The Brave and the Bold implies that the Klingons had not settled Narendra III as of 2266. This was apparently contradicted by the Enterprise episode "Judgment", although it is possible that the planet changed hands during the Federation-Klingon wars.
