Narrel specialized in astrometrics, physics, and exobiology.
By 2409 Narrel was the science officer of the Romulan Republic flagship RRW Lleiset. He saw the Republic's dual alliances with the warring Federation and Klingon Empire as emblematic of the Deferi philosophy of the Balance, and believed it key to peace between the two peoples. (STO mission: "Republic Day")
He was present at a mission briefing before the attack on the Solanae Dyson sphere facility near the Dyson sphere's star. (STO mission: "A Step Between Stars")
