Nasat was a heavily forested planet in the Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

History and specifics[]

Nasat was the homeworld of two sentient species: an insectoid species called the Nasat, and a plant-like species, the Citoac. While the Citoac lived on the forest floor, the Nasat began to live in gigantic mother-trees to escape predators. As the Nasat civilization expanded, the two species came into conflict, but could not communicate. Sometime in the 16th or 17th centuries, Nasat quiets were able to broker a protectorate-type treaty, whereby the Nasat agreed to limit their settlements and allow sunlight to reach the forest floor.

For at least 200 years, Nasat quiets lived on the outskirts of their townships to facilitate communication with the Citoac. By the 2370s, this practice had ended, and the Nasat had forgotten about about the Citoac's existence. The Nasat erected a safety net below a township, unknowingly causing the Citoac to starve. In 2276, the Citoac attacked the offending township, consuming dozens of Nasat and damaging several of the mother-tree's branches. P8 Blue re-established contact and communicated the Citoac's needs to the Planetary Council, bringing the Nasat back into compliance with the treaty. (SCE eBook: Balance of Nature)

Nasat was a member of the United Federation of Planets, and as of 2380, was represented on the Federation Council by C29 Green. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)

In the mid 24th century, a planetwide network of pneumatic tubes designed by scientist V1 Red was constructed, and was considered a major accomplishment of the planet's history. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
