The Nausicaan raider was a Nausicaan starship class, a raider in service to Nausicaa and pirates from the 22nd century. (ENT episode: "Fortunate Son")

History and specifications[]

This class of ship was launched in the 22nd century. The horseshoe-shaped vessel was 90 meters long and by the 2150s decade capable of achieving warp factor 2. It was armed with energy weapons. Its defenses were no match for a United Earth NX-class starship, however. (TOSC Issue 30: "Nausicaan Fighter")

Pirates used these ships and operated from asteroid bases. Among their victims were low-warp freighters of the Earth Cargo Service.

In 2151, a Nausicaan pirate was captured by First Officer Matthew Ryan and the crew of the ECS Fortunate during a raid. Ryan interrogated his captive brutally and lied about his hostage to Earth Starfleet, whose flagship Enterprise NX-01 arrived to offer help to Fortunate.

USS Drake NCC-1801

Interrupted by the Drake.

Fortunate later tracked the Nausicaans to their base but was quickly overwhelmed by the Nausicaan raiders there, until Enterprise arrived and negotiated a truce with the lead pirate. (ENT episode: "Fortunate Son")

In the 2260s, a squadron of Nausicaan raiders preyed on a pair of Monarch-class freighters. They were interrupted by the USS Drake, and forced to retreat when the USS Enterprise drove into their line of fire in a daring move. (TOS - Year Five comic: "Captains of Sea and War")

Some ships of this class remained in use by the 2340s, alongside other Nausicaan ship classes. (ST video game: Infinite)

Alternate timelines[]

Alliance Hostile Hunt

23rd century Nausicaan raiders.

In the Kelvin timeline, the technology of Nausicaan raiders had been improved by the 2260s. They fired red beams and pulses. Nausicaan raiders were used to patrol the Nausicaan system to defend Nausicaa during conflicts with the Rigellians, particularly the Jelna; the Orion Syndicate, the Takret Militia, and Yridians. However, these governments and species, including the Malurians and Corvallens, where categorised as the hostiles by the independent faction in the Neutral Zone. The Hostiles shared the same ship designs, including Nausicaan raiders. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

During the conflict, alliances of Independents would patrol the Neutral Zone to eliminate raiders operated by different Hostiles. (ST video game: Fleet Command mission: "Alliance Hostile Hunt!")
