Nelson Hemachandra was a 24th century Human man, a Starfleet lieutenant who served as science officer aboard the USS Enterprise-C in the early 2330s.
Biography[]
Hemachandra had served aboard six other Federation starships, but came aboard the Enterprise for a fresh start. His great experience made him a trusted advisor to Rachel Garrett, and she also appreciated his interest in non-Terran musical forms.
On one of his previous postings, Hemachandra served under a Tellarite captain. It was while under his command, that he and his captain established first contact with the Calix.
Following the death of Carmona during an attack by unknown aliens in 2332, Hemachandra was temporarily made first officer. (ST - Enterprise Logs short story: "Hour of Fire")
