This article is about the vessel Nerada. You may be looking for Commander Nereda or the vessel Narada.

The Nerada was a 24th century Nasari starship, a Nasari combat ship[2] in military service in the 2370s decade. Its commanding officer was Captain Alben. (VOY episode: "Favorite Son")

Service history and disposition[]

Nerada takes fire

Nerada takes phaser fire.

The Nerada was a small interstellar vessel typically used by the Nasari for patrol and interception duties during their war of attrition with the Taresians. In the 2370s, the Nerada was part of a lethal blockade against Taresia. The Nerada was first encountered by the Federation starship USS Voyager on stardate 50732. (Fact Files Issue 88: "File 40 Card 48 The Nerada")

Voyager encountered the Nerada in the Delta Quadrant in the year 2373. Ensign Harry Kim had been infected with a mutagen that turned him into a Taresian. Captain Alben secretly charged his ship's directed energy weapons, which Kim subconsciously realized, leading to him firing phasers on the Nasari ship.

Tactical officer Tuvok later confirmed Kim's instincts. The Nerada returned with a pair of sister ships to attack the larger Federation Intrepid-class starship but Voyager repelled them with the help of a Taresian starship, Lyris' patrol ship. (VOY episode: "Favorite Son")
